Kodancherry: Minister M B Rajesh will inaugurate the Parappatta Bridge in the panchayat on the 20th of this month at 7 pm. The bridge was constructed using ₹3 crores allocated from the Chief Minister’s Local Road Rebuild (CMLRR) fund following active interventions by Linto Joseph MLA. The Parappatta Bridge spans the Chalippuzha on the Kodancherry–Parappatta–Chembukadavu–Adivaram Road.

 According to the Panchayat President Alex Thomas Chembakassery landowners voluntarily provided land free of cost for the construction of roads on both sides of the bridge following inereventions by he panchayat

The panchayat allocated ₹20 lakhs for bridge design, soil boring (soil testing), and the relocation of KSEB lines. The bridge, which measures 33 metres in length and 6 metres in width, is supported by two spans. A 70-metre approach road has been constructed on the Chembukadavu side and a 140-metre road on the Kodancherry side. A service road has also been built for residents living along the riverbank on the Kodancherry side of the bridge.

The approach road on the Chembukadavu side has been widened and tiled. The riverbank has been beautified with the installation of metal hand railings. The construction was completed under the supervision of the panchayat governing committee and the panchayat engineering wing. The work was carried out by the Uralungal Labour Contract Society.

The new bridge was built by demolishing the old Parappatta bund bridge. A reception committee has been formed with Panchayat President Alex Thomas Chembakassery as Chairman, CPM Local Secretary K M Joseph as General Convenor and C S Sarath as Treasurer.
