Dilapidated footbridge to Sarovaram Bio Park in Kozhikode poses grave risk

Kozhikode: The footbridge that serves as the only access to the Sarovaram Bio Park from the Mini Bypass is in a dangerously dilapidated condition, even as work on a new bridge at the site has run into delays.
The four-decade-old bridge now lies in shambles, with crumbling concrete and rusted, broken metal rods exposed. The structure appears so weak that it could collapse at any moment.
Taking note of the danger, the Executive Engineer of the Irrigation Department has put up a warning board cautioning pedestrians about the unsafe condition of the bridge.
Meanwhile, construction of a new bridge is progressing slowly, with pillars already built on both sides of the Canolly Canal. However, the project has run into rough weather, as heavy rains and strong winds have caused significant delays.
