Angadipuram: Angadipuram Panchayat has created an elephant sculpture using discarded plastic bottles. Nearly 10,000 bottles, collected through 32 bottle booths installed at various locations by the panchayat, were used to construct this sanitation-themed sculpture.

Perinthalmanna Sub Collector Sakshi Mohan inaugurated the ‘bottle elephant’ sculpture at a function presided over by the Panchayat President K P Sayeeda. Standing Committee Chairpersons Vaakkattil Sunil Babu, Fausia Thavalengal and Saleena Thaaniyan, members P P Shihab, Anil Pulipra, Shamsad Beegum, Koradan Ramla, M K Khadeeja, Wahida and Narayanan, Secretary Suhas Lal, Vyapari Vyavasayi Ekopana Samithi President Jabbar, and RP KILA Gopalan also spoke at the function.

The sculpture was installed as part of Angadipuram Panchayat’s ongoing waste management campaign, `Azhakualla Angadipuram. Huge crowds are gathering to witness the unique ‘bottle elephant.’

According to the Panchayat President, the sculpture aims to convey the message that the ecological threat posed by plastic bottles littering the streets can be addressed through creative initiatives like this. The ‘bottle elephant’ has also gone viral on social media.
