Koodaranji: The presence of a mysterious creature in an old and unused well in a farmland in Perumboola has been confirmed. The image of the creature has been captured in the camera installed by the forest department. However, the forest department has not been able to confirm whether it is a tiger due to the sudden reflection of the camera flash. Meanwhile, the animal has eaten the meat placed in the well.

Yesterday, the forest officials installed a still camera with night vision properties to get a clear image of the animal. Besides, a hen too was placed close to the camera to lure the animal within the visual range of the camera. An RRT team and section forest officials are camping in the area, monitoring the movement of the animal. The forest officials are trying to recognise the animal before tranquilizing and capturing it in a cage.

Meanwhile, Thamarassery forest range officer KP Prem Shemeer said that it is difficult to spot the animal as there is a huge cave inside the well. Besides, the heavy rains in the area are blurring the camera lens. The forest officers hope that the animal would come out of the cave at night as it might be alerted by the sounds above during the day.

Two local residents recognised the presence of an animal similar to tiger in an old well with no protective wall in a farmland owned by Perumboola Kurialassery Kurian, on Wednesday morning. The animal pulled back into the cave inside the well when it detected human presence above. Although the forest officials had tried driving the animal out of the cave by bursting crackers, the vastness of the cave posed a challenge. They then decided to install cameras to inspect the interiors of the well.
