Kochi: The Essence Global Litmus 25, a conference of free thinkers at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium in Kadavanthra, was temporarily suspended on Sunday after a man arrived at the venue with a gun. Writer Taslima Nasrin is expected to attend the event in the evening.

Police said the man, a native of Udayamperoor, was carrying a licensed firearm. He was taken into preventive custody, and his background is being verified. No case has been registered so far.

Following the incident, attendees were asked to leave the stadium while police conducted a search. “The organisers initially announced a 20-minute halt, citing a technical issue. Later, police arrived, evacuated everyone, and searched the premises,” a participant told the media.
