Hello
Santhan, a former member of the LTTE's intelligence wing, arrived in India by boat along with the key conspirator, Shivarasan.
The Supreme Court on November 11 directed the premature release of the six, including Nalini Sriharan and R P Ravichandran, serving life term in the case. It noted that the Tamil Nadu government has recommended remission of their sentence.
In her press meet soon after walking out of jail on Saturday evening, Nalini also recalled her meeting with Rajiv's daughter Priyanka Gandhi in March 1998.
Addressing her first ever press conference, Nalini, answering a question, said she told Vadra about whatever she knew on the matter. Asked if Vadra appeared strong or "emotionally cried," Nalini said: "Yes, she was very emotional."
She told the media she just wants to lead a normal life and has not decided on whether to stay in Chennai or live with her daughter in London.
The development came following a Supreme Court order setting all six free. They were serving life term for about three decades.
The Congress had termed "totally unacceptable and completely erroneous" the SC order directing the premature release of the six remaining convicts serving life sentence in Rajiv Gandhi assassination case.
Former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi was killed by LTTE in a suicide blast at Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu while he was on a poll campaign during the 1991 general election.
The top court had on May 18 ordered the release of Perarivalan, who had served over 30 years in jail.
The action came following investigations carried out by an inter-ministerial committee formed by the MHA in 2020.
