Vadakkancherry: Uthralikavu Temple, nestled in the middle of splendid hillocks, has always been a photographer’s dream. Hundreds of people visit the beautiful paddy fields that have now turned into swathes of greenery, to film reels.
People from even faraway places reach this quaint village after getting lured by the reels and videos that are posted on social media. The fields on either side of the temple are now ready for the mundakan farming season, spreading a delightful greenery in the area.
The temple, surrounded by the verdant green fields and the majestic mountains in the background, looks straight out of an impressionist painting. Meanwhile, most people enjoy capturing the moment when the train passes through the rail tracks behind the temple, offering a magnificent frame. The paddy fields in front of the temple are part of the Akamala padasekharam.
The Uthralikavu fields, meanwhile, is on the west side of the railway track. The water from the dam reaches only the fields on the east side of the tracks. Saplings have been planted in the field in front of the temple, a month before the mundakan season begins, as the farming here depends on the monsoons.
These saplings that have the growth of at least a month have turned the fields into a haven of greenery. After the harvest season in January, the fields will be ready to enjoy the spirit of the annual temple festival in February.
