At just 18, Vaishnav Krishnakumar had already achieved what many can only dream of. A UAE Golden Visa recipient, a top student, and a natural leader, Vaishnav’s life was filled with promise. But on the evening of October 22, 2025, tragedy struck. The young student, who had just begun his professional journey, passed away suddenly after suffering a cardiac arrest during a Diwali celebration at Dubai International Academic City.

Vaishnav was no ordinary teenager. He had a brilliant academic track record, scoring 97.4% in the 2024-25 CBSE Class 12 exams, with perfect marks in both Marketing and Entrepreneurship. His achievements were recognised when he was awarded the prestigious UAE Golden Visa, a rare honour given to students with exceptional academic performance. He had big plans for his future, already starting his career as a social media marketing intern at a private firm in Dubai, one of its youngest members. His potential seemed limitless.

His LinkedIn was a reflection of his mindset; focused, driven, and grateful. “Balancing academics with responsibilities like being Head of the School Council wasn’t easy, but it was possible only because of the incredible teachers and mentors who supported me,” Vaishnav wrote in a post not long ago.

At GEMS Our Own Indian School, where his mother, Vidhu Krishnakumar, is a teacher, Vaishnav led with passion and commitment. He was the Head of the School Council and also served as the President of the Model United Nations Club and the Debating Society. Despite his numerous leadership roles, he always credited his success to the guidance he received from those around him. “My journey hasn’t been easy,” he once said. “But every setback was a lesson that helped shape me into the person I am today.”

Vaishnav’s family, originally from Mavelikkara, Kerala, moved to Dubai more than 20 years ago. What they got in return was a son who, at just 18, had already made an indelible impact on everyone who knew him. His sudden passing leaves a huge gap in their lives, as well as in the university and school communities where he had begun to shine.

In the Model United Nations (MUN) circuit, Vaishnav held multiple roles — starting as a delegate and chair, later becoming Vice-President, and eventually President. In each role, he mentored younger participants and led conferences, always inspiring others with his dedication and leadership.

According to reports, Vaishnav had no known underlying heart conditions and was particularly focused on regular exercise and wellness.
