Kumily: Tamil Nadu Police on Friday evening arrested four people, including a woman and her two sons, for allegedly trafficking ganja into Kerala for sale. Officials said 46.5 kg of the contraband, valued at around ₹5 lakh, was seized from the group.

The accused are Rajesh Kannan, Billy Ramalakshmi, her son Durga Prakash, and a minor boy — all natives of Andhra Pradesh, police said.

The arrests were made during a routine vehicle check near Kumily in Idukki when Tamil Nadu police intercepted a luxury car carrying the family. Upon inspection, officers found ganja concealed inside a travel bag.

The family reportedly told police they had come from Andhra Pradesh for a vacation but had also planned to smuggle and sell ganja in Kerala. Police also seized their vehicle after the ganja seizure. A court here remanded the four in judicial custody.
