Thiruvananthapuram: A man was stabbed to death and his friend critically injured following a family dispute at Karamana late on Sunday, the police said. The deceased has been identified as Shijo (29), a native of Karamana, while his friend Jojo (25) sustained a stab wound in his chest and is undergoing treatment.

The incident took place around 8 pm. Shijo, Jojo and their friends Rahul and Teljin questioned Rahul’s brother-in-law Ajith for allegedly assaulting his wife. The confrontation led to a heated quarrel, according to FIR.

Later, Ajith, accompanied by his brother-in-law Ajayan, confronted the group in front of the Karumam LP School and stabbed both Shijo and Jojo following an altercation.

Though both of them were rushed to the hospital, Shijo could not be saved. His body has been kept at the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital.

An officer of the Karamana Police Station said both Ajith and Ajayan are currently on the run, and efforts are on to trace and arrest the accused.
