Neighbour’s dog mauls 6-year-old girl inside house in Kasaragod

Kasaragod: A schoolgirl sustained serious injuries after being attacked by a neighbour’s pet dog. The victim, Shana Fathwima, daughter of Ibrahim of Padinjare Janma beach in Udma and a Class 1 student of JEMS School, was bitten by the dog on Tuesday evening when it entered her house and attacked her. The dog bit her on the head, causing deep wounds. Injuries were also on her legs and abdomen. But she has been admitted to the Kasaragod General Hospital with serious injuries to the head.
The attack occurred when the child was entering her house after returning from school. The dog followed her into the house and bit her. Family members and neighbours managed to chase the dog away.
According to the family, the dog belongs to Bhaskaran, a neighbour. They said the situation could have been far worse if no one had noticed the incident in time.
The family plans to file a police complaint against the owner for letting the dog loose.
