Kozhikode: District Collector Snehil Kumar Singh has imposed prohibitory orders for seven days around the Fresh Cut meat waste treatment plant at Ambayathodu, Thamarassery, to prevent untoward incidents and maintain law and order in the area.
The restrictions have been enforced under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). The order covers a 300-metre radius around the plant, a 50-metre stretch on either side of the road between the plant and Ambayathodu, and a 100-metre radius around the Ambayathodu junction.
As per the order, gatherings of four or more people, as well as any form of protest, public meeting, or demonstration, are prohibited in the specified areas during the period of restriction.
The Fresh Cut plant, which was closed after violent protests on October 21, was granted permission on Thursday to resume operations under strict conditions.
The decision was taken by the District Level Facilitation and Monitoring Committee (DLFMC), chaired by the district collector, during its meeting. The move follows a joint inspection by the State Suchitwa Mission and the Kerala State Pollution Control Board, whose reports were reviewed by the committee.
