Thamarassery: For the families struggling under the ongoing police raids, traders in Thamarassery have set an inspiring example by extending a helping hand. Many households in the region are facing the threat of starvation as their breadwinners have been forced to stay away from home.
Several individuals have been unable to go to work due to the tense situation surrounding the Fresh Cut plant. In view of this situation, the Thamarassery unit of the Vyapari Vyavasayi Ekopana Samithi, led by its president P C Ashraf, has stepped forward to support those hit hard by the Fresh Cut issue, with the help of generous donors.
Approximately 200 kits containing rice, provisions, and vegetables were distributed through voluntary organisations over the past two days. Eligible families in Koodathaayi, Karambalakkunnu, Vayaloram, Purayil, Karingapoyil, Puvottil, Manimunda, and Ambalamukku received the aid.
The unit’s office bearers are working tirelessly to ensure that all eligible beneficiaries in these regions receive assistance. Traders in Thamarassery had also observed a shutdown until yesterday afternoon, followed by a public gathering to express solidarity with the anti-Fresh Cut agitation.
