Kozhikode: A migrant worker died after a compound wall collapsed on him at Kakkodi here on Saturday. The deceased is Uday Manji, a native of Odisha. He was trapped under the debris, which included huge concrete blocks. Though he was rushed to the Kozhikode Government Medical College Hospital, doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Faisal (40), a worker from Kerala, was also injured in the accident. It is learnt that he managed to crawl out of the debris soon after the incident. He is currently undergoing treatment at the same hospital. The wall collapse was reported around 10.40 am.

According to witnesses, the workers were building a new compound wall for a recently constructed house when the old wall of a neighbouring property suddenly collapsed on them. Both workers were trapped under the debris.

Fire and Rescue Services personnel from Vellimadukunnu rushed to the spot and pulled the workers out.
