Iritty: A bison found along the High Range highway at Palappuzha on Saturday night was driven away to Aaralam farm after hours of assiduous effort. The animal was first spotted in the area around 7.30 PM. Two-wheeler riders who happened to pass by came face-to-face with it but had a miraculous escape.

The bison then strayed into a residential area. After an extended pursuit by the Forest Department’s Rapid Response Team (RRT) and local residents, it was finally guided across the Palappuzha bridge and into Aaralam farm. It is suspected to be the same bison that was seen at Aaralam farm a few weeks ago.

In a recent review meeting held at Aaralam farm, the Forest Department stated that the bison had been successfully guided back into the forest.

Earlier, the Forest Department had captured a bison that had entered a residential area in Maruthayi, Mattannoor. Locals later alleged that this animal was released near human settlements in the Aaralam forest. The frequent sightings of bison in Aaralam farm and surrounding areas lend credibility to these claims.
