Varkala Kerala Express incident: Teen suffers serious head & abdominal injuries, assailant also targeted her co-passenger

Suresh Kumar, held on charges of kicking a 19-year-old female passenger, Sreekutty and causing her to fall from the moving train on Sunday, also attempted to push another passenger, Archana, off the train. Suresh, 48, a resident of Panachamoodu, was under the influence of alcohol, according to a statement issued by the Railways.
Sreekutty (alias Sonu) fell onto the track from the rear General Coach of Train No. 12626 Kerala Exp (NDLS–TVC) between Varkala and Kadakkavur railway stations. Suresh was taken into custody by the Railway Protection Force. Sreekutty has been admitted to Medical College Hospital with head and abdominal injuries. Her condition is critical.
During the preliminary inquiry by the RPF, co-passenger Archana stated that Sreekutty and she had boarded the train from Aluva to Trivandrum, travelling in the rear GS coach. After departure from Varkala, while proceeding to the toilet, they noticed an unknown male passenger seated nearby. Suddenly, he rushed towards them and kicked Sreekutty, and she fell from the moving train. He also attempted to push Archana, who narrowly escaped. On hearing the screams, co-passengers rushed to the spot, pulled the alarm chain, and detained the accused.
Assistant Security Commissioner RPF Thiruvanathapuram Division and Additional Chief Medical Superintendent, Divisional Railway Hospital are presently camping in the hospital where Sreekutty is undergoing treatment.
