Kadakkal: Little Sadhika was on cloud nine as she cut the ribbon inaugurating the brand-new road. The authorities had fulfilled the wish of Sadhika, who has physical disability and can’t walk, and her neighbours for a proper road to their area.

Sadhika was carried by her father to help her cut the ribbon. It was panchayat member AR Irshad, who, with the help of the people of the locality, took the initiative to construct the road. Sadhika, the daughter of Mankad native Abhilas, is a student at Mankad UP school.

Meanwhile, Sudhakaran, Mansoor, Nandanan, Jaleel, Bhargavi Amma, Mohanan Nair, Bindu, Leela, Vikraman, Nalinakshan, Kamalakshiyamma, Saraswati, Lalitha, Suresh, Indira, Abhilash, Shivarajan Pillai and Vijayalakshmi Shukoor had the good heart to give up their lands for constructing the road.

Kushavoorkonam Udayankavu – Mankad temple road stretches more than half kilometres and has a width of five metres. ₹1.5 lakh was spent to turn this path, which was in a severely damaged condition to a fully developed road. Local residents say that it was difficult even for pedestrians to walk on the old path. The panchayat member also donated ₹50,000 for the road.
