Munnar: Widespread theft has been reported from a row of street-side shops located in front of the Flower Garden at Mattupetty. The culprits, who made away with cash and chocolates, are believed to have left the scene only after quenching their thirst by cutting open and drinking tender coconuts kept in the shops.

The burglary took place at shops owned by Kaniraj, Murugan, and Rekha — all residents of Munnar. The suspects broke open the locks before carrying out the theft.

CCTV footage from the area captured the image of one of the suspects. According to the shop owners, chocolates worth around ₹6,000 and cash amounting to ₹10,000 were stolen.
