Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has written to his Madhya Pradesh counterpart, Mohan Yadav, expressing concern over the reported arrest of a Kerala priest in Jhabua district.

Vijayan urged Yadav to ensure that the priest, identified as Father Godwin, is not subjected to any form of harassment. The priest was reportedly taken into custody on allegations of religious conversion.

In his letter, Vijayan noted that Father Godwin, a native of Thiruvananthapuram district, has been involved in various charitable activities in Madhya Pradesh.

“I request you to kindly look into the matter personally and ensure that Father Godwin is not subjected to any kind of harassment, and that no arbitrary action is taken by any officials,” Vijayan said in his letter, according to a statement from his office.
