Thrissur: A Tamil Nadu native accused of stealing mobile phones across Kerala has been arrested in an interstate operation by the Thrissur City Police. The accused, Sukumaran Murukan(25) of Vellore, was allegedly part of a network that stole devices from Kerala and resold them in Tamil Nadu.

According to police, the gang operated a specialised “service centre” in Tamil Nadu where stolen phones and electronic gadgets were dismantled and sold as spare parts. The arrest followed an investigation into a major theft at the Government Engineering College hostel in Thrissur last August, during which Sukumaran reportedly entered the boys’ hostel and stole mobile phones and laptops worth ₹3.24 lakh.

Police traced him to Gudiyatham village in Vellore district, where he was taken into custody. Several stolen mobile phones and laptops were recovered during the operation.
