Thiruvananthapuram: BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar has announced a list of 67 candidates for the upcoming local body elections in the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation. The party has fielded several prominent figures in the capital city.

Former DGP R Sreelekha will contest as the BJP candidate from the Sasthamangalam ward. V V Rajesh will contest from Kodunganoor, while Padmini Thomas will represent the party from Palayam. Thampanoor Satheesh, who recently left the Congress, will contest from the Thampanoor constituency.

While announcing the candidates, Rajeev Chandrasekhar said that the BJP is seeking an opportunity to govern. “We will transform Thiruvananthapuram into one of the best cities in India and ensure an administration that resolves all public issues. The BJP promises a government that will realise the capital’s full potential,” he said. “A developed Ananthapuri is the BJP’s assurance. We will make Thiruvananthapuram the best city in India,” he added.

The list also includes M R Gopan (Nemom), Latha Balachandran (Vazhuthacaud), P Ashok Kumar (Pettah), Anjana (Pattom), Sheeja J (Kudappanakunnu), Kazhakkoottam Anil (Kazhakkoottam), and Sandhya Rani S S (Karyavattom).
