Idukki: The premises of the Mini Civil Station in Thodupuzha are in a state of neglect, with thick undergrowth and rusting official vehicles giving the compound the appearance of an abandoned site. Several unused government jeeps lie scattered around the building, many overrun by weeds and creepers.

Even though these abandoned vehicles have been damaged beyond repair, the authorities have resorted to no action to shift them from the premises.

Similarly, sacks filled with garbage are piled up near the entrance of the building, occupying the space meant for visitors to park their vehicles. Similar heaps of waste can also be seen behind the building.

Dry leaves and other waste materials are strewn across the premises, particularly in the parking area used by visitors. "You can never tell if there are snakes hiding beneath these leaves," said a local resident.

Another unpleasant sight at the Mini Civil Station is that of the overflowing waste bins on the right side of the office door. These bins are never seen cleared and garbage is dumped all around them. "Hundreds of people visit the Mini Civil Station daily. Immediate measures have to be taken to clear the undergrowth and carry out a sanitation drive on the premises," said a local resident.
