Palakkad: The Station House Officer (SHO) of Cherpulassery Police Station was found hanging in his official quarters on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Binu Thomas, 52, a native of Thottilpalam in Kozhikode. Binu had joined the Cherpulassery Police Station about eight months ago.

Police said Binu was on duty till evening and returned to his quarters afterwards. When he did not report back, colleagues went to check on him and found him hanging inside the residence. A suicide note running over 30 pages was recovered from the quarters, officials said.

Preliminary findings indicate he died by suicide due to personal issues. The body will be sent for postmortem on Sunday. A case will be registered in connection with the incident, police said.
