Kochi: The CPI has fielded AISF State Joint Secretary Nimisha Raju, who had earlier lodged a complaint against former SFI State Secretary PM Arsho, as its candidate in the upcoming local body polls. She will contest as the LDF nominee in the Kedamangalam Division under the Paravur Block.

The CPI decided to nominate Nimisha Raju despite strong objections from the DYFI and the SFI. Nimisha had earlier filed a police complaint against Arsho in the wake of a clash that erupted during the MG University senate election in October 2021.

Following the declaration of election results, a clash broke out between SFI and AISF workers on the university campus. In her complaint to the District Police Chief, Nimisha stated that Arsho, who was present at the scene, threatened her by calling her caste name and insulting her modesty as a woman.

Nimisha now works as a lawyer and is a member of the CPI Paravur Mandalam Committee.
