A private bus lost control and rammed into a tree near the Wadakkanchery railway station on Sunday, injuring around 16 passengers. Except for two individuals, the injuries are reported to be minor. The accident occurred around 6.30 pm on the Shoranur–Kodungallur state highway.

The bus, Shoni, was operating on the Thrissur–Shoranur route. The mishap took place while it was drizzling. After the driver lost control, the vehicle veered off the road and crashed into a tree.

The injured were taken to Thrissur Government Medical College Hospital and Ottupara District Hospital. Wadakkanchery police arrived at the spot and initiated further proceedings. Meanwhile, locals noted that accidents are frequent on this curved stretch of the road.
