Kondotti: The police have submitted the Social Background Report (SBR) of the two minors accused of attempting to break into a shop at Kizhissery to the Juvenile Justice Board.
An SBR is mandatory in cases involving children below 18 years who are booked for criminal offences. Recently, two 17-year-old boys were handed over to the police by a couple of shop owners at Kizhissery, who alleged that the duo had tried to break into their shop in the early hours. The Juvenile Justice Board is expected to take a decision on the report related to the alleged theft attempt soon.
Meanwhile, the police have revealed that the minors were brutally assaulted before being taken into custody. The boys were allegedly beaten with iron rods and wooden logs, leaving injuries across their bodies. Following this, a case of attempted murder was registered, and the two shop-owner siblings accused of the assault were arrested.
The accused, 25-year-old Muhammed Ashik and 22-year-old Adil Ahammed of T K House, Alinchuvadu near Kizhissery, have been remanded by the Malappuram court. Police said a detailed investigation into the assault is underway and that a chargesheet will be filed soon.
