Daylight burglary in Kozhikode house: Four youths arrested

Kozhikode: The Kozhikode police on Thursday arrested four youths for allegedly breaking into a rented house at Pottammal here and robbing gold and cash. The accused are Imbichali Veettil Unais (25) of Panikkar Road, Nadakkavu; Mohammed Sanood (20) and Mananthavil Veettil Ibhan (21), both natives of Pokkunnu; and Shaheeb Kuzhiyil of Iringalloor.
According to the Medical College police, the four-member gang burgled the house occupied by T Vidhya Kuzhichalil of Poolakkal, Kakkattil, during broad daylight on November 25. They allegedly trespassed into the house and robbed the family at knifepoint. The gang snatched Vidhya's gold chain and ring, and stole ₹54,500 kept in shelves, as well as money kept in the pockets of family members and two others present at the time.
They also threatened Vidhya’s husband, Venu, and forced him to share his UPI password, following which they transferred ₹50,000 to their account.
As part of the investigation, the Medical College police examined CCTV footage and, with assistance from the Cyber Cell, nabbed the culprits from various parts of Kozhikode city on Thursday. All four were remanded to judicial custody, police said.
The investigation team, led by Station Inspector Baiju K. Jose, along with Sub-Inspectors Arun, Amal Joy and Anil Kumar, arrested the accused.
