Thiruvananthapuram: The Finance Department has authorised an additional expenditure of ₹1.1 crore to purchase two replacement vehicles for Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, according to a government order issued on December 1.

The Finance Department sanctioned the amount by invoking para 95(3) of the Kerala Budget Manual and relaxing existing economy restrictions.

The proposal was forwarded by the Additional Director General of Police (Intelligence) and cleared by the Home and Finance Departments. The government has directed the administrative department and the controlling officer to regularise the expenditure through reappropriation of savings or supplementary demands before the end of the current financial year.

The order, issued by Deputy Secretary Sreeraj S S, has been forwarded to the Accountant General, the Director of Treasuries, the State Police Chief and other relevant departments.
