A huge fire broke out at Madayipara on Thursday, a flat-topped hillock known for its rich biodiversity and ancient monuments. The fire started around 4 p.m. on the hillside near the Darikankota (Madayi Fort), located close to Madayi College.

Fanned by strong winds, the flames quickly spread, destroying grass meadows across several acres.

As school and college hours had just ended, students from Madayi College  too rushed in to help douse the fire.

The efforts of PP Nived, O Farhan, P Ajinas, Mushid Rashid and K Ritu Anand in controlling the flames were particularly  commendable.
