Gujarat native held for defrauding TVM doctor of ₹1.1 cr

Thiruvananthapuram: The City Cyber Crime Police have arrested a Gujarat native accused of cheating a doctor of over ₹1.11 crore by promising high returns through share trading.
The accused, Parmar Prateek Bipinbhai (25) of Bapunagar, was taken into custody from Ahmedabad. Police said he transferred the money collected from the doctor to cryptocurrency and other digital wallets before converting and smuggling it abroad.
The doctor was contacted through mobile apps, WhatsApp and Telegram, and was instructed to transfer money through bank transactions. Investigation of the bank records showed that the entire amount had been deposited into the accused’s account.
A special police team conducted searches in Ahmedabad and nearby areas before arresting him. He was produced before the Thiruvananthapuram Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court (ACJM) and remanded in custody.
Police said this is the third arrest in the case. The investigation team was led by Inspector Shameer M K under the supervision of senior city police officials.
