B Raman Pillai, advocate of actor Dileep, who was acquitted in the actress assault case, reiterated allegations of conspiracy in listing Dileep as the accused in the case. After walking out of the court following the judgment, Dileep on Monday alleged that criminal forces in the police colluded with the other accused to frame him in the case.
He said that the judgment upheld values of truth and justice. "There was not a shred of evidence against Dileep. You cannot win a case by cooking up evidence. The initial statements by the survivor's friend, mother and fiance also showed that the survivor had no enmity within the industry and outside," he said.
According to Pillai, the statements furnished by the police officials in the initial phase of the investigation, including that of the CI, DySP and Thrikkakkara ACP, were changed in the court. "I know there was conspiracy, but I can't say more about it," he said adding that a senior police official assigned the probe to the junior most cop only to drag Dileep to the case.
When asked if it was former IG B Sandhya, he nodded. "After examining 200 witnesses in the case, police levelled charges of plotting murder against Dileep. This was done to take him into custody and obtain evidence," said Pillai.
Special Public Prosecutor V Ajakumar told Onmanorama that all evidence to prove criminal conspiracy charges against Dileep was submitted in the court. "The first accused, Suni, himself had admitted having written the letter. We need to go through the judgment to understand why the court didn't take into account the evidence against Dileep. We had submitted all the relevant evidence against Dileep. Any further move in the case will have to be decided by the state government," said Ajakumar. He said that all the charges slapped against the first six accused were upheld by the court.
Advocate T B Mini, counsel of the survivor, told Onmanorama that she will comment after going through the judgment in detail. The case has been posted for judgment on December 12.
