Kochi: Advocate TB Mini, counsel for the survivor in the actress attack case, told Manorama News that she will reveal more details about the case once the court announces its crucial verdict. She expressed hope that justice will be served to the survivor.
Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court Judge Honey M Varghese will pronounce the verdict in the 2017 actress assault case today at 11 am. The case involves nine accused, including actor Dileep (P Gopalakrishnan), who is the eighth accused.
“We have submitted all evidence before the court. I believe the court will appreciate it. Dileep’s three mobile phones and the phone conversations will be crucial in the case. The phone used to record the assault is a major piece of evidence, but the probe team has not yet recovered it. Still, the survivor’s statement before the court is considered direct evidence in this crime. She had described the ordeal she went through during the trial. The Supreme Court has ruled that the victim’s statement is primary evidence in such cases. I am restricted from revealing more about the evidence submitted before the court. I will disclose more to the public once the court issues the crucial judgment,” she said.
All the accused including Dileep and key accused Pulsar Suni will arrive at the court today. However, it is learnt that the survivor won't be present to hear the judgment.
The alleged crime took place in February 2017 in Angamaly, when the survivor was travelling by car from Thrissur to Ernakulam. A vehicle hit the rear of her car, after which a group of people picked a fight with the driver and forcefully entered the survivor’s car under the pretext of settling the dispute. They then drove the car towards Ernakulam along the National Highway. On the way, the actress was allegedly sexually assaulted by the first accused, Pulsar Suni, who recorded the act on his mobile phone. The survivor was later abandoned in front of a film director’s house, and the accused fled the scene.
