Pathanamthitta: Over 30 people, including Sabarimala pilgrims, were injured after two KSRTC buses collided head-on at Chakkupalam in Pampa on Tuesday. As per reports, none of the injured are in critical condition. However, a child named Mangala sustained a head injury in the accident.
It is learnt that the buses, which operate chain services on the Pampa–Nilakkal route, met with the accident while negotiating a curve. It is alleged that negligent driving led to the crash.
Among the injured, around 10 people — including both bus drivers — were shifted to Kottayam Government Medical College Hospital. Others were admitted to a hospital in Nilakkal.
Traffic along the route was disrupted for more than an hour following the accident. Police and Fire Force personnel faced significant difficulty in removing the buses from the scene.
