Three people died in an auto-bus collision at Mavila on the Anchal–Punalur route on Thursday. The autorickshaw collided with a mini bus carrying Ayyappa devotees from Andhra at around 1 am near the Mavila temple.

All three victims were travelling from Anchal to Karavaloor in the auto. The auto driver, Akshay (23), known as Mahi, of Akshay Bhavan in Anchal, died on the spot.

The other victims include Shruthi Lakshmi (16), the elder daughter of Sunil and Bini of Neelammal, Karavaloor, and Jyothi Lakshmi (21), the elder daughter of Raghu and Bindu of Jayajyothi Bhavan at Thazhamel, Anchal. Shruti was a class 10 student of Karavaloor AMMHSS and Jyoti was a nursing student in Bengaluru. Shruthi Lakshmi and Jyothi Lakshmi were cousins.
