A teacher was allegedly stabbed by her husband with a knife at the government LP school in Peroor South on Thursday. The injured teacher is identified as Donia. Police said they are searching for her husband, Kochumon, from Moscow Junction. Their relationship was reportedly strained.

According to police, Kochumon first came to the school around 9.30 am looking for Donia, who was not present at the time. He returned around 10.45 am and found her teaching. He asked her to step out of the classroom, and while the two were speaking in the staff room, a quarrel broke out. During the argument, he allegedly took out a knife and attacked her, causing injuries to her neck.

Donia ran to another classroom for help, and Kochumon fled as other teachers rushed in. She was taken to a nearby private hospital, and police said her condition is now stable.

A non-teaching staff member at the school, Rejitha, said everyone saw the husband ride into the campus on a scooter and call the teacher, pretending it was a normal conversation. “We heard a loud commotion and yelling, and then we saw the knife fall to the ground. It was still lying there when he left after the attack. She had deep wounds on her neck and there was blood everywhere, but she was conscious and able to speak while calling for an ambulance,” she said.

Another staff member said the husband had called the teacher out of her classroom on the pretext of giving her a book and took her to a nearby office. “We have known them for a long time so we did not find anything unusual when they were having a private conversation,” the staffer added.
