Kottayam: Students and a teacher who arrived at the Ettumanoor Government Higher Secondary School on Wednesday, just a day after the campus served as a polling station for the local body elections, developed sudden uneasiness. A total of 11 students experienced itching and breathing difficulties and were admitted to the Family Health Centre in Ettumanoor for treatment.

According to the students, the benches and desks used for polling the previous day were reused for classes, and those who sat on the furniture subsequently developed discomfort. Teachers who entered the classroom also reportedly experienced similar symptoms.

Health centre officials said the exact cause of the uneasiness remains unknown. All the affected children were discharged after receiving preliminary treatment.
