Alappuzha: A houseboat collided with another boat, Tejas, owned by Sibi Kumar of Thirumala, Alappuzha, on Thursday at the Marthandam backwaters, causing water to enter the vessel. The 12 tourists on board, all from Karnataka, were quickly evacuated by the houseboat staff and safely brought to shore.

Fire and rescue officials said the boat that collided with Tejas was experiencing technical issues. The Tejas houseboat is now partially submerged, and authorities plan to raise it on Friday.
