Thiruvankulam: Elderly inmates of the Snehakoottam Care Home in Kottayam, who had left the Hill Palace Museum a few days ago following mistreatment by a police officer on duty, returned on Friday to visit the museum as government guests.

The visit was organised under the leadership of Nisha, Director of Snehakoottam, and the group was accompanied by CPM District Committee member Jake C Thomas.

Following complaints about the officer’s earlier misconduct, the Chief Minister intervened to arrange for the visit at government expense. The group arrived at 10 am and was warmly welcomed by Minister Kadannappalli Ramachandran.

After touring the museum, the residents joined the minister in a ceremony in the museum hall, where they shared their joy by cutting a cake together. The elderly visitors also performed various cultural programmes, with the minister too joining in as a singer. The visit concluded around noon, after which the group returned.
