A class 10 student reportedly jumped off the second floor of the Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Attingal and sustained injuries on Monday. She was rushed to the Taluk Hospital, Attingal, from where she was shifted to a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. The girl fractured her thigh bone in the fall, and her condition is reported to be stable.

The school authorities were in the middle of noon-meal distribution when a group of students alerted them about the incident. "It was lunch break, and some of the teachers were away. None of us could tell how it happened. Some of the students rushed to us and said that they saw a girl lying on the ground. We immediately took her to the nearby hospital. Her parents were informed. We need to talk to other students to understand what exactly happened," said school Principal Shaji.

The District Education Officer, Attingal, Biju R visited the injured girl at the hospital. "Her class is on the ground floor. We need to know why she went to the second floor. It's a three-storeyed building," said Biju. The DEO will submit a report on the incident to the Education Department. The CCTV footage from the school will also be analysed. The student hails from Chirayinkeezhu.
