Kozhikode: Doctors at the Government Medical College Hospital successfully removed a pair of scissors swallowed by a patient from the Government Mental Health Centre through emergency surgery.

The patient, a young man, was admitted to the hospital's emergency department on Monday evening after he refused to take food. An X-ray examination revealed that a 15-cm-long pair of scissors was lodged in his oesophagus, following which he was immediately referred to the ENT department.
