Thrissur: Traffic restrictions will be in place in the town on Sunday from 11 am to 6.30 pm in connection with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit. Authorities have banned the use of drones in areas under the visit. The public has been advised to avoid using private vehicles unless necessary.

Parking will not be allowed at Swaraj Round, nearby roads, or close to Vadakkumnathan Temple until the Prime Minister's roadshow concludes. Vehicles will also not be permitted to park along both sides of the Mannuthi–Thrissur Road and the stretch from Kuttanellur Helipad to Nadathara.

Entry to the town will be restricted to routes via Municipal Office Road, Kuruppam Road, Naduvilal, Shornur Road and Press Club Road.

Security restrictions are also in place, with items such as pens, bags and water bottles not allowed inside Swaraj Round.

Key traffic restrictions

  • Heavy vehicles, including trailers, are not allowed to enter the city limits from 2 pm onwards.
  • Small vehicles proceeding from Thrissur towards Mannuthi and Ernakulam must take the Pensionmoola–Nellankara route.
  • Vehicles from Kunnamkulam heading to Palakkad should pass via Viyyur Power House Junction.
  • All vehicles coming from Ernakulam to Thrissur via Paliyekkara should use the Thalore–Ollur–Mundupalam–Shakthan route. Vehicles travelling in the opposite direction must follow the Manorama Junction–Mundupalam–Ollur route.
  • Vehicles from Pattikkad, Mandamangalam, Puthur and Valakavu must go via Kuttanellur, Ancheri and Mission Quarters route.
  • Buses from Kozhikode and Kunnamkulam should go only up to West Fort via Ayyanthole.
  • Buses on the Kanjani route should also go only up to West Fort.
  • Buses via Nellankara must reach the Vadakke Stand via Pension Moola and return the same way.
  • Buses from Irinjalakuda and Cherpu should reach Shakthan bus stand and return via Koorkenchery.
