Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government will begin disbursing salaries to public sector employees from April 4.
The delay is due to the treasury not carrying out transactions on April 1, the first day of the new financial year, and public holidays on April 2 and 3 on account of Maundy Thursday and Good Friday.
Employees in the Secretariat and departments such as the Treasuries will receive their salaries on April 4. Teachers and other staff will be paid on April 6, while those working in the remaining departments will receive their salaries on April 7.
This month’s salary will include an additional dearness allowance (DA) of 10 per cent.
The government has already cleared bills submitted by contractors and others up to March 24 and settled the payments. The remaining bills will be cleared only after two to three months.
