A fire broke out at an apartment building in Marine Drive, Kochi, on Sunday afternoon. Fire and Rescue officials rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control.

The fire broke out in the basement parking area of Samudra Darshan Apartments in Marine Drive. Although the blaze has been contained, thick smoke has blanketed the area, hindering operations.

Four units from the Gandhinagar and Club Road fire stations have arrived at the spot and are working to clear the smoke. “We have arranged for a blower from the Gandhinagar station to clear the smoke,” a Fire and Rescue official said.

The official added that the extent of the damage could be assessed only after the smoke had cleared.
