An Indian citizen was among 12 people killed in the latest Russian attacks on Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Tuesday.

In a post on X, Zelenskyy said since Monday evening, guided aerial bomb and drone strikes had continued against Odesa and the region.

"Overall, 12 people were killed, among them an Indian citizen, and dozens more were injured in the attack," he said.

Sharing photographs of the damage, Zelensky said in many cities and communities, work to address the aftermath of the Russian attack was ongoing since last night. Nearly 350 first responders were involved in Kyiv and the region alone. A significant number of jet-powered drones and ballistic missiles were used in the attack, he said.

"Unfortunately, residential buildings and civilian infrastructure have been damaged. In Boryspil, an ordinary five-story residential building was damaged. Fifty people were evacuated. All necessary services are on the ground. Businesses were also struck. Overall, 4 people were killed and 13 injured in the city. My condolences."

The Ukraine President said that since Monday evening, guided aerial bomb and drone strikes had continued against Odesa and the region. Thousands of families were left without electricity, and work was ongoing to restore power to people as quickly as possible. A border crossing with Romania was deliberately damaged, as was export infrastructure. In Kyiv, a strike on a railway depot killed 7 people. The Kherson, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Zhytomyr, Sumy, and Dnipro regions also came under attack, he posted.

"Russia always plans its strikes specifically to cause as much destruction to people’s lives as possible, and it succeeds only when air defense capabilities are insufficient. I am grateful to everyone helping Ukraine receive anti-ballistic capabilities through PURL and bilateral supplies, and it is very important that these deliveries increase this fall. The number of victims of Russian terror directly hinges on every new package of assistance. I thank everyone who is helping make Ukraine more resilient," he added.

Meanwhile, according to a Reuters report, nine people were killed and over a dozen injured in Russian air attacks on Kyiv and the surrounding region on Tuesday, the sixth consecutive day of strikes on the Ukrainian capital.

Attacks both in Ukraine and Russia continue as efforts are ongoing to find a solution to end the deadliest conflict on the European continent since the World War Two, which started with Moscow's full-scale invasion in February 2022, the report said.

Eight people were killed and another five wounded in Kyiv, three of them children, and fires broke out in different locations around the capital, emergency service said on the Telegram messaging app.

In Boryspil in the Kyiv region, one person was killed and another nine, including a child, were injured after missiles and drones damaged an apartment building and a business facility, Governor Tymur Tkachenko said on Telegram.

In Russia, a drone attack caused a fire in the port area of Ust-Luga, a major export outlet in the northwest, and Moscow was repelling drones.

In Russia's Samara region, home to a number of major oil refineries some 800 km (500 miles) southeast of Moscow, an air attack damaged civilian facilities, the local governor said on Telegram.

On the other hand, Zelenskiy had said on Monday that he held a "detailed and constructive" call with U.S. President Donald Trump's envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, and that the sides were working to finalise dates for their visit to Ukraine aimed at advancing peace efforts.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi too had told Russian President Vladimir Putin that the war needed to end for humanity's sake. The Kremlin leader said Moscow was "moving forward along this path".
