Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc become the quickest to reach the 150-wicket club in One-Day International (ODI) cricket. The left-arm pacer achieved the milestone during the World Cup match against the West Indies at Trent Bridge on Thursday. It was Starc's 77th ODI and West Indies captain Jason Holder was his 150th victim in the shorter format of the game.

Starc broke the record of former Pakistan off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq. Saqlain took 78 matches to reach the milestone.

Windies needed only 38 runs from the last five overs to chase down the target of 289. However, Starc gave away only one run in the 46th and 48th overs and picked up three crucual wickets which included the dangerous Carlos Brathwaite and Holder. He ended up with figures of 5/46 from his quota of 10 overs, which included a maiden.

Starc also became the six bowler to take two five-fers in World Cup history. His first five-wicket haul in the qudennial showpiece came in 2015 against New Zealand (6/28). It remains the 29-year-old's best figues in ODIs.
