When it comes to tournaments conducted by the International Cricket Council (ICC), Shikhar Dhawan is the most reliable batsman for India.

The 33-year-old proves this statement is right with his emphatic innings against the defending champions Australia at the Kennington Oval on Sunday in the ongoing ICC World Cup.

With his 96-ball century, the left-handed opener registered his third ton in World cups -- the most by any Indian batsman in the current line-up. His first two centuries came in the 2015 World Cup.

Dhawan has been phenomenal for India in ICC tournaments as these records suggest.

Dhawan made his ICC Champions Trophy debut in 2013. He was the top scorer and the player of the tournament with 363 runs as India won the title with a five-run victory over the hosts.

With a splendid half-century against the arch-rivals Pakistan, Dhawan started his World Cup campaign in style.

He registered his first century in the event by scoring 137 against South Africa, which is the highest by the Indian opener in an ICC tournament.

He ended the tournament as India's top run scorer with 412 runs from eight matches with two centuries. His second century was against Ireland.

Top of the heap again

After the tournament winning performance in 2013, Dhawan continued his rich form in the 2017 Champions Trophy also.

Once again, he became the top scorer for India with 338 runs from five matches. He scored a century against Sri Lanka in the group stage but India failed to defend the total of 321.

Rare failure

Even as this left-handed opener holds a decent record in 50-over ICC events, he is not that dangerous in its World Twenty20 events.

He played only seven matches and has registered four single-digit scores on the card. Dhawan is yet to find his first half-century in T20 World Cup.

He made this tournament debut in 2014 and scored only 31 runs from three matches and lost his position from the team in the second half of the event held in Bangladesh.

It was the repetition of the poor show of 2014 in the 2016 T20 World Cup held in India. He failed to perform well throughout the tournament. Ajinkya Rahane replaced him in the opening position for the semi-finals.
