While Sanju Samson remains unavailable for his state side due to national team commitment, Kerala have been boosted by the return of Sachin Baby for the resumption of the Ranji Trophy campaign.
Sachin was absent from the Kerala squad in the recent Vijay Hazare Trophy due to an injury. His more illustrious teammate, Sanju, too missed the 50-over domestic event.
The Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) recently accused Sanju of not participating in the preparatory camp, while the star player's camp argued that he had expressed his availability for the event regardless.
Sachin will take over the captain's armband as Kerala host Madhya Pradesh in their Group C encounter at Thumba starting January 23. Kerala are unbeaten in the Ranji Trophy this season, with two wins and three draws.
Sachin is Kerala's second-highest run-getter in the current Ranji campaign with 279 runs from five matches, behind Rohan Kunnummal on 290. Meanwhile, Sanju is part of India's T20 squad for the home series against England starting Wednesday.
