Sanju Samson will play under the captaincy of his elder brother Saly at Kochi Blue Tigers in the second season of the Kerala Cricket League (KCL) set to begin on August 22.

The Kochi franchise have announced Saly as the skipper and Sanju as the vice-captain. The Blue Tigers secured the services of Sanju for a whopping ₹26.8 lakh in the auction held earlier this month.

Sanju will be playing in the KCL for the first time, having skipped the first season. The star wicketkeeper batter is used to leading, as he captained his IPL franchise, the Rajasthan Royals and the Kerala Ranji Trophy side.

The Samson brothers have played together before at various age-group tournaments. For the first time in his senior career, Sanju will play under the captaincy of his elder brother, who is a right-arm pacer and a quality batter.

The Blue Tigers had a poor outing in the opening season of KCL, finishing fifth among the six franchises and missing out on the playoffs. Kollam Sailors, Thrissur Titans, Calicut Globstars, Trivandrum Royals and Alleppey Ripples are the other franchises in the KCL. Sachin Baby-led Kollam won the inaugural edition.
