For many cricket fans, Sanju Samson is still a young and fearless batter who loves to entertain. It is hard to imagine that Sanju has been a senior India player for 10 years already.
The 30-year-old wicketkeeper batter put out a social media post on the anniversary of his senior India debut. "Today marks 10 years of my international cricket. The numbers might not tell you the whole story. Absolutely grateful to this blessed journey, loving every bit of it #daretodream," Sanju posted.
Sanju made his India debut on July 19, 2015, against Zimbabwe in a T20 match at Harare. He wasn't used as an opener then and batted at No 7 with India chasing 145/7. Sanju made 19 off 24 as India lost by 10 runs.
Even as Sanju made a name in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with Rajasthan Royals, he has not been a regular in the national set-up.
Last year was his best in India colours as he was part of the T20 World Cup-winning side. Sanju also produced some of his best attacking cricket for Team India, scoring three centuries in two months.
Sanju hit consecutive centuries -- 111 against Bangladesh in Hyderabad and 107 against South Africa in Durban and followed it up with an unbeaten 109 against the Proteas in Johannesburg.
