Defending champions Kollam Sailors will take on Calicut Globstars in the inaugural match of the Kerala Cricket League (KCL) season 2 at the Greenfield Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on August 21.

The season opener scheduled to start at 2.30 pm is a repeat of KCL-1 final. The second match on the day will feature Trivandrum Royals and Kochi Blue Tigers, featuring Sanju Samson.

India cricketer Sanju had missed the inaugural edition of the T20 league but participated in the auction ahead of KCL-2, where the Blue Tigers spent a whopping ₹26.8 lakh to secure his services.

Alleppey Ripples and Thrissur Titans are the other two franchises that will compete in the two-week long league. The final is scheduled to be held at the Greenfield Stadium on September 6.
